Lesson 1

The Court



"Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed speaking unto Moses that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen." Acts 7:44

1. The Tabernacle is enclosed by a court fence that is cubits high.

Exodus 27:18 “The length of the court shall be an hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty every where, and the height five cubits of fine twined linen, and their sockets of brass.”

A. The North and South side of the court fence is cubits long.

Exodus 27:9-11 “And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle: for the south side southward there shall be hangings for the court of fine twined linen of an hundred cubits long for one side:
10 And the twenty pillars thereof and their twenty sockets shall be of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets shall be of silver.
11 And likewise for the north side in length there shall be hangings of an hundred cubits long, and his twenty pillars and their twenty sockets of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver.”

B. The East and West side of the court fence is cubits long.

4. White is symbolic of the righteousness of Jesus (Philippians 3:9), which is the color of the curtain of fine twined .

(which means something bleached white, byssus, linen, fine linen).

5. Blue is symbolic of heaven which is above, and Jesus came from .

John 3:31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.”

9. Jesus wore three different robes during his trials and crucifixion.

A. The first robe he wore was a robe, which is white in color.

Luke 23:11 “And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.”

Note: The Greek word for gorgeous is lamprov lampros lam-pros’ . It is translated in the KJV as bright, goodly, white, gorgeous, gay and clear.

Matthew 27:27-28 “Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

John 19:2-5 “And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!”
