Holy Trinity

Lesson 2

We have one God, which is a Trinity. Three separate persons, yet act as one.

How can three persons be one?

A good example of three persons as one, (trinity) is our U.S. Government.

We have one government, but three branches, a trinity:

The Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches.

When we want to address our Government, we go to the President of the Executive Branch.

Our laws are made in the Legislative Branch and the judgments of our laws are done by the Supreme Court of the Judicial Branch.

How can three persons be one?

Another good example of three persons as one (trinity) is the equilateral triangle. You can only have an equilateral triangle when all three sides are equal in length.

If one side is longer or shorter than the others, then it is not an equilateral triangle.

To have a triangle, you must have three sides. If you have more or less than three sides, then it is not an equilateral triangle or a triangle.

10. In a triangle you must have how many sides?

to question 10.

11. In an equilateral triangle do all the three sides have to be equal in length?

to question 11.

NOTE: The Bible does not use the phrase, Holy Trinity, but uses the word, God, in place of the phrase, Holy Trinity.

To have an equilateral triangle you have to have three equal sides.

To have God you have to have three equal persons, the Holy Trinity.

God is like an equilateral triangle.

12. With the Holy Trinity as an equilateral triangle name the three sides.

A.

to question 12 A.

B.

to question 12 B.

C.

to question 12 C.

To pray to God is to use the Holy Trinity.

13. When you pray, who are you to pray to, the Father, Son or Holy Spirit?

Matthew 6:6 “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”

Matthew 6:9 “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”

to question 13.

14. When you pray, who is to help you in what you should pray, the Father, Son or Holy Spirit?

Romans 8:26-27 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

to question 14.

15. When you pray, you must pray in whose name, the Father, Son or Holy Spirit?

John 16:24 “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”

John 15:16 “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”

to question 15.

16. Can a person serve or worship God without believing in the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit?

1 John 2:22-24 “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.”

to question 16.

17. Can a person honor God, the Father, without honoring Jesus?

John 5:23 “That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.”

to question 17.

18. Can a person know about God or how to worship and serve Him without the Holy Spirit?

John 16:13-15 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”

to question 18.

NOTE: God is one in the Holy Trinity. One God.

19. If you leave out one or more persons of the Holy Trinity, do you have God?

to question 19.

What about the Old Testament Saints, did they know about the Holy Trinity?

Yes, they were taught about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit by prophecy, symbols and worship sacrifices.

To learn more about this take the Bible course
Typology or if you have taken the course, go back and refresh your knowledge.

There was a lot of ignorance about the Holy Trinity in the Old Testament and in the New Testament.

Acts 17:30 “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:”

Today we are not to be ignorant of the things of God.

Romans 10:3 "For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God."

Romans 11:25 "For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in."

1 Corinthians 10:1 "Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;"

1 Corinthians 12:1 "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant."

2 Corinthians 2:11 "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices."

Ephesians 4:18 "Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:"

1 Thessalonians 4:13 "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope."

2 Peter 3:5 "For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:"

2 Peter 3:8 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."
