Angels Lessons 4 and 5 Apperances & Shapes. Angels do not have wings. from Jerry L. Wells on Vimeo.

In the Bible there are recorded events of angels.  In many of these events the Bible does not describe how an angel appears or what shape or form the angel might have.  There are a few events that give some description of what shape that angel might have and how he appeared to mankind.

I. Angels can appear in a flame of fire.

Exodus 3:2 "And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed."

Later, God used this angel as his official voice to speak to Moses.

II. Angels can appear visible or invisible.

Numbers 22:22-23 "And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him. 23  And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way."

Therefore, an angel may be visible or seen by one and at the same time be invisible to others.

Colossians 1:16 "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:"

Angels can move from the invisible to the visible world or from the visible to the invisible world.  They can have objects such as swords, chariots and horses that can also be taken from the invisible to the visible world or go from the visible to the invisible.  The invisible world is just as real as the visible.

2 Kings 6:16-17 "And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.  And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.  And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."
