Revelation Lesson 8

The Church in Sardis

Beginners course on Revelation.

Purpose: To acquaint you with the book and to help you to see the events as they happen in Revelation.



1. Jesus identifies himself as the one that has the seven   of God, and the seven  .

Revelation 3:1 "And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead."

2. Does Jesus know their works?

3. Does Jesus have anything against this church?  

Revelation 3:2 "Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God."

4. The problem with this church was that they had a name that they were alive, but they were  .

Revelation 3:3 "Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee."

7. "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;" Revelation 3:6 This statement means  . (Choose one of the following)

A. This letter is for anyone who will hear.

B. This letter is only for the members of that church.
