Genesis 1


I. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1

II. The earth was without form and void. Genesis 1:2

    A. Darkness was upon the face of the earth.

    B. The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The plan of Salvation

III. On the first day there was darkness. Genesis 1:2

    A. Darkness is symbolic of sin. John 3:19-21

    B. All have sinned. Romans 3:23

    C. God said “Let there be light”. Genesis 1:3

    D. Jesus is the light of the world. John 8:12

    E. Jesus would come to give us light.

IV. On the second day there is the dividing of the water. Genesis 1:6-8

    A. In baptism water is symbolic of the grave, death. Romans 6:3-7

    B. The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23

    C. Jesus would die for our sins. Romans 5:6

V. On the third day, God calls for the grass, with herb yielding seed, and the fruit trees, to grow whose seed was upon the earth, which is Spring. Genesis 1:9-13

    A. Spring is symbolic of new life, resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

    B. Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose the third day.

    C. We must be born again. John 3:3, 16

VI. On the fourth day, God calls forth the lights of heaven to shine. The lights are for signs, seasons, days, and years Genesis 1:14-19

    A. Lights in heaven are to guide us as God’s word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Psalms 119:105

VII. On the fifth day God calls for and creates sea life, and birds. Genesis 1:20-25

    A. Substance for daily living.

    B. God’s care for us.

VIII. On the sixth day the Holy Trinity created man in their image. Genesis 1:26-28

    A. Mail and female created he them and they are to be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth.

    B. Fellowship with God. We are God’s family as the results of salvation through Jesus.

    C. God creates all the animals unrelated to man.

VII. On the seventh day God rested. Genesis 2:1-3.

    A. Our rest in Heaven.
