The Judgment of the Nations

The three parables illustrate what will happen at the Rapture and Second Coming of Christ. I. Parable of the ten virgins. Be ready for the Rapture. Matthew 25:1-13

    A. The background for this parable.

       1. The ten virgins are not the bride.

       2. The bride is in the house waiting for the bridegroom.

       3. The ten virgins are outside waiting to light the way for the bridegroom.

       4. When the bridegroom comes the ten virgins trim their lamps.

       5. The ten virgins will go into the house with the bridegroom to be part of the wedding party.

       6. The wedding ceremony will be in the house with the bridegroom, bride, ten virgins and guest.

    B. The ten virgins. Matthew 25:2-5

       1. All ten virgins had lamps with oil in the lamps.

       2. Five wise virgins took extra oil with them.

       3. Five foolish virgins did not take extra oil with them.

       4. All ten virgins slept while the bridegroom tarried.

    C. At midnight word came that the bridegroom is coming. Matthew 25:6-12 1. All ten virgins trimmed their lamps.

       2. The five foolish virgins ran out of oil and had to go and buy oil for their lamps.

       3. While the five foolish virgins were gone, the bridegroom came.

       4. The five wise virgins went into the house with the bridegroom.

       5. The door was shut and no one else could go in.

    D. “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 25:13

II. Parable of the Talents. All Christians will give an account at the Judgment Seat of Christ at the time of the Rapture. 2 Corinthians 5:9; 1 Corinthians 3:10-15; Matthew 25:14-30

    A. Three servants received talents (money). Matthew 25:14-15

    B. Two servants invested their money and doubled what they had received. Matthew 25:16-17

    C. One servant hid his money. Matthew 25:18

    D. The two servants that invested their money were made ruler over many things. Matthew 25:19-23

    E. The one servant who hid his money, lost what he had and was cast into outer darkness. Matthew 25:24-30

III. Parable of the Sheep and Goats. The judgment of Nations at the Second Coming of Christ. Matthew 25:31-46

    A. After the battle of Armageddon, at the Second Coming of Christ, Jesus goes to the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, enlarges the valley of Jehoshaphat and sits upon the throne of his glory. Zechariah 14:3-5; Joel 3:9-17; Matthew 25:31

    B. All nations, not individuals, are gathered before him. Matthew 25:32

    C. Jesus separates them. Matthew 25:32-33

       1. Sheep are the nations that helped his brethren. Matthew 25:34-40

       2. Goats are the nations that did not help his brethren. Matthew 25:41-46

       3. The brethren of Jesus are the Jews, Israel, not the lost.

    D. Those on his right hand (sheep) will be permitted to go into the 1,000 years reign.

       1. Because they helped his brethren, Israel, during the Tribulation Period.

    E. Those on his left hand (goats) will be sent to hell, which was created to punish the devil and his angles.

       1. Because they did not helped his brethren, Israel, during the Tribulation Period.
