       1. People believed.

II. The importance of the physical resurrection of believers. 1 Corinthians 15:12-19

    A. “Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?” 1 Corinthians 15:12

    B. “But if there is no resurrection of the dead,

       1. Then is Christ not risen:” 1 Corinthians 15:13

    C. “And if Christ be not risen,

       1. Then is our preaching vain,

       2. And your faith is also vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:14

       3. “Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God;

       4. Because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ:

       5. Whom he raised not up,

       6. If so be that the dead rise not.” 1 Corinthians 15:15

    D. “For if the dead rise not,

       1. Then is not Christ raised:” 1 Corinthians 15:16

    E. “And if Christ be not raised,

       1. Your faith is vain;

       2. Ye are yet in your sins.” 1 Corinthians 15:17

       3. “Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.” 1 Corinthians 15:18

    F. “We are of all men most miserable.

       1. If in this life only we have hope in Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:19

          a. The lack of belief, that we will be raised and live again on this earth before it is destroyed.

III. The results of the resurrection of Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:20-32

    A. Christ is raised from the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:20

       1. Christ is the firstfruits of the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:20

    B. By man, Adam, came death. 1 Corinthians 15:21

       1. By man, Jesus, came the resurrection of the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:21

    C. In Adam all die. 1 Corinthians 15:22

       1. In Christ all shall be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:22

    D. Order of the resurrections. 1 Corinthians 15:23

       1. Christ the firstfruits. 1 Corinthians 15:23

       2. Afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. 1 Corinthians 15:23

       3. Then the last resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:24

          a. When Christ has delivered up the kingdom to God. 1 Corinthians 15:24

          b. When Christ has put down all rule, authority, and power. 1 Corinthians 15:24

    E. Jesus must reign. 1 Corinthians 15:25-28

       1. Till he has put all enemies under his feet. 1 Corinthians 15:25

       2. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 1 Corinthians 15:26

       3. Jesus has put all things under his feet. 1 Corinthians 15:27

          a. Jesus is accepted by God the Father. 1 Corinthians 15:27

       4. When Jesus has subdued all things. 1 Corinthians 15:28

          a. Jesus will be subject unto God the Father. 1 Corinthians 15:20

          b. God the Father will be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:28

    F. The mode of baptism is death and resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:29

Note: The phrase “Baptized for the dead” is in reference to the mode of baptism.

       1. In baptism you are immersed, symbolic of dying and being buried.

       2. In baptism you are raised out of the water, symbolic of being physically raised from the grave.

       3. If there is no physical resurrection.

          a. Then change the mode of baptism; sprinkle.

    G. If there is no physical resurrection, then we will not live again on this earth before it is destroyed.

       1. Then we are in jeopardy every hour. 1 Corinthians 15:30

       2. Then why should we rejoice in dying daily in our Lord? 1 Corinthians 15:31

       3. Then why should we put our lives in danger? 1 Corinthians 15:32

          a. Fighting with the beast at Ephesus.

       4. Then why not eat and drink; for tomorrow we die. 1 Corinthians 15:32

IV. Teach the truth about the resurrection of Christ and the believers. 1 Corinthians 15:33-34

    A. Do not be deceived. 1 Corinthians 15:33

       1. Do not let yourselves be persuaded by the anti-resurrection talk. 1 Corinthians 15:33

       2. Bad company ruins good manners. 1 Corinthians 15:33

          a. We need to live a righteous life and sin not. 1 Corinthians 15:34

    B. Do not ignore the resurrection facts. 1 Corinthians 15:34

       1. Ignorance of the resurrections destroys strong faith and righteous living in times like these. 1 Corinthians 15:34

       2. We should be ashamed that we have let this anti-resurrection teaching go on as long as it has. 1 Corinthians 15:34

V. The physical resurrected body. 1 Corinthians 15:35-50

    A. How are the dead raised? 1 Corinthians 15:35

    B. What kind of body will they have? 1 Corinthians 15:35

    C. Planting a seed and its growth is an example of the resurrected body. 1 Corinthians 15:36

       1. The seed must die in order for the new body to spring forth.

       2. The seed and the plant from the seed are not the same. 1 Corinthians 15:37

    D. God gives us a physical resurrected body as it pleases him according to its own seed. 1 Corinthians 15:38

    E. “All flesh is not the same flesh.” 1 Corinthians 15:39

       1. The flesh of men. 1 Corinthians 15:39

       2. A different flesh of beasts. 1 Corinthians 15:39

       3. A different flesh of fishes. 1 Corinthians 15:39

       4. A different flesh of birds. 1 Corinthians 15:39

       5. A different flesh of celestial bodies. 1 Corinthians 15:40

       6. A different flesh of terrestrial bodies. 1 Corinthians 15:40

    F. The glory and beauty of different bodies. 1 Corinthians 15:40

       1. The glory of celestial bodies is different from the glory of the terrestrial bodies. 1 Corinthians 15:40

       2. The glory of the sun. 1 Corinthians 15:41

       3. A different glory of the moon. 1 Corinthians 15:41

       4. A different glory of the stars. 1 Corinthians 15:41

          a. Each start has its own glory. 1 Corinthians 15:41

    G. The physical resurrected body has its own glory. 1 Corinthians 15:42-44

       1. It is planted in corruption. 1 Corinthians 15:42

          a. It is raised in incorruption. 1 Corinthians 15:42

       2. It is planted in dishonor. 1 Corinthians 15:43

          a. It is raised in glory. 1 Corinthians 15:43

       3. It is planted in weakness. 1 Corinthians 15:43

          a. It is raised in power. 1 Corinthians 15:43

       4. It is planted as a natural body. 1 Corinthians 15:44

          a. It is raised as a physical spiritual body. 1 Corinthians 15:44

       5. There is a physical natural body. 1 Corinthians 15:44

          a. There is a physical spiritual body. 1 Corinthians 15:44

    H. The two Adams. 1 Corinthians 15:45-50

       1. The first man Adam was made a living soul. 1 Corinthians 15:45

       2. The last Adam, Jesus, was made a living spirit. 1 Corinthians 15:45

       3. The natural Adam came first with a natural physical body. 1 Corinthians 15:46

       4. The spiritual Adam, Jesus, came afterward. 1 Corinthians 15:46

       5. The first Adam is of the earth, earthly (dying). 1 Corinthians 15:47

       6. The second Adam, Jesus, is from heaven, heavenly (eternal). 1 Corinthians 15:47

       7. “As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy:” 1 Corinthians 15:48

       8. “As is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.” 1 Corinthians 15:48

       9. “As we have borne the image of the earthy,” 1 Corinthians 15:49

       10. “We shall also bear the image of the heavenly.” 1 Corinthians 15:49

       11. “Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God;” 1 Corinthians 15:50

       12. “Neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 1 Corinthians 15:50

          a. You must be born again. John 3:3-16

VI. The great transformation. 1 Corinthians 15:51-58

    A. A wonderful mystery now revealed. 1 Corinthians 15:51

    B. Not all the saved will die, but all the saved will be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:51

    C. The resurrection and Rapture of the saved will happen in a moment. 1 Corinthians 15:52

       1. In the twinkling of an eye. 1 Corinthians 15:52

       2. At the last trump. 1 Corinthians 15:52

    D. The trumpet shall sound. 1 Corinthians 15:51

       1. The dead bodies of the saved shall be raised from the graves. 1 Corinthians 15:52

       2. The living bodies of the saved shall be changed, transformed. 1 Corinthians 15:52

    E. This corruptible body must put on an incorruptible body. 1 Corinthians 15:53

    F. This mortal body must put on an immortal body. 1 Corinthians 15:53

    G. Death is swallowed up in victory. 1 Corinthians 15:54

       1. When the saved are raised and/or transformed.

    H. “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” 1 Corinthians 15:55

       1. “The sting of death is sin;” 1 Corinthians 15:56

       2. “The strength of sin is the law.” 1 Corinthians 15:56

    I. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57

    J. Because of the resurrection and transformation of the bodies of the saved we can: 1 Corinthians 15:58

       1. Be steadfast. 1 Corinthians 15:58

       2. Be unmovable. 1 Corinthians 15:58

       3. Be always abounding in the work of the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58

       4. Knowing that our labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58

       5. We will live again for one thousand years on this earth before it is destroyed. Revelation 20:1-9
