Typology Lesson 2 Eve In (Romans 5:14 Nevertheless
death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the
similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.) we learn that Adam is the
figure (type) of Jesus who was to come. In (2 Corinthians 11:1-3 Would to
God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2 For I am jealous over you with godly
jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as
a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the
serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted
from the simplicity that is in Christ.) there is concern about the local church as the bride of Christ in
that the local church might be tempted as Eve was tempted by the serpent, the
Devil. We can learn about the local church as we study Eve who is a type
of the local church.
1. The local
church is to one husband,
Jesus.
(2 Corinthians
11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly
jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as
a chaste virgin to Christ.)
to question 1.
2. The local church is to be
presented to Jesus as a chaste .
(2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have
espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin
to Christ.)
to question 2.
3. The local church is in
danger of being corrupted by false teachers as was tempted by the serpent.
(2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve
through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity
that is in Christ.)
to question 3.
Eve is a type of the local church. How Eve was created teaches us about the creation of the local
church. 4. In order for Eve to be
created, Adam was put into a deep .
(Genesis 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and
he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead
thereof;)
to question 4.
5.
Sleep is symbolic of . (John
11:11-14 These things said he: and after that
he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him
out of sleep. 12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep,
he shall do well. 13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they
thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14 Then
said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.)
to question 5.
6. Jesus on
the cross. (John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It
is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.)
to question 6.
7. God took a rib from the of
Adam. (Genesis 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and
he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead
thereof;)
to question 7.

of the soldiers with a spear pierced the of
Jesus. (John
19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear
pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.)
to question 8.
9. God made Eve with the rib
he took from the of Adam. (Genesis 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he
a woman, and brought her unto the man.)
to question 9.
10. God made the local church
from the and
that came from the of
Jesus. (John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and
forthwith came there out blood and water.)
to question 10.
11. Which came first from the
side of Jesus, water or blood?
(John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and
forthwith came there out blood and water.)
to question 11.
12. To be a member of the
local church first we must be born again, justified, by the of
Jesus. (Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall
be saved from wrath through him.)
to question 12.
13.
Then we must be by the
local church. (Matthew
28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them,
saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost: 20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.)
to question 13.
14. Baptism is the ordinance
of the local church, not the preacher. "For Christ sent me to
baptize, but to preach the gospel." (1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel:
not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none
effect.)
to question 14.

and finding certain disciples,)

to question 15 B.

been taught, Paul wanted to know what they had. (Acts 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And
they said, Unto John's baptism.)
to question 15 C.
D.
These
believers were identified by baptism with teachings.
(Acts 19:3-4 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And
they said, Unto John's baptism. 4 Then
said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the
people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is,
on Christ Jesus.)
to question 15 D.
E. When these believers
wanted to change their beliefs they were again to be identified with the new local church. (Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name

thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son
of God.)
to question 16 A.
B. After that Philip
knew that the eunuch was saved then he him.
(Acts 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went
down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.)
to question 16 B.
17. After Eve was created,
Adam said this is now of my
bones, and of
my flesh: (Genesis 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and
flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of
Man.)
to question 17.
18. After the local church was
created, the Bible states that we are members of his body, of his ,
of his . (Ephesians 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his
bones.)
to question 18.
19. Adam said that a man shall
leave his father, and mother, and shall cleave unto his :
and they shall be flesh. (Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and
shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.)
to question 19.
20. "For this cause shall
a man leave his father, and mother, and shall be joined
unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great :
but I speak concerning and
the ." (Ephesian
5:31-32 For this cause shall a man leave his
father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one
flesh. 32 This is
a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.)
to question 20.
21. After Adam and Eve had
sinned, they tried to cover their sins with
. (Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that
they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves
aprons.)
to question 21.
22. Later God made coats of to
cover them. (Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats
of skins, and clothed them.)
to question 22.

to be taken, was shed.
to question 23.

decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself
with her jewels.)
to question 25 A.
B. With the of
righteousness. (Isaiah
61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my
soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of

faith.)
to question 26.
