led the Children of Israel out of Egypt on their way to Canaan. The children of Israel now
number over 3 million people. After two months and 15 days
the people were without food. They began to murmur against
Moses and Aaron. They were now in the
wilderness of Sin, between Elim and Sinai. They were afraid that God had
brought them to this wilderness, to kill all of them with hunger. God heard their murmuring and
promised them that they would eat flesh (quails) in the evenings and bread in
the mornings. God would provide enough bread
for one day, except on Friday, then he would provide enough bread for two
days, Friday and Saturday (Sabbath). He would do this every day for
40 years. God would do it this way in
order to prove them, whether they would walk in his laws or not.
