I. Three angels visit Abraham. Genesis 18:1-8
A. In the plains of Mamre, Abraham sat in his tent door in the heat of the day. B. Abraham saw three men and ran to meet them. C. Abraham invited them to stay and eat. II. Sarah is promised a son. Genesis 18:9-15 A. The angels told Abraham that Sarah would give birth to a son. B. Abraham and Sarah were old, and Sarah was not able to have a child. C. Sarah overheard what was said and laughed within herself. D. The angel asked, “Is any thing too hard for the Lord?” III. The angel told Abraham that Sodom and Gomorrah must be destroyed because of their wickedness. Genesis 18:16-21 IV. Abraham intercedes for Sodom. Genesis 18:22-33 A. Abraham asked, “Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?” B. Abraham asked if there were 50 righteous would he not destroy the cities? C. Abraham asked if there were 45, 40, 30, 20, or 10 righteous would he not destroy the cities? D. The angel agreed that he would not destroy the cities if there were 10 righteous there.
