I. Samuel makes his sons judges over Israel. Vs. 1-3
A. Samuel is old. Vs. 1 B. Samuel appoints his sons, Joel and Abiah, as judges in Beersheba. Vs. 2 C. Joel and Abiah took bribes and walked not in the ways of Samuel. Vs. 3 II. Israel asks for a king. Vs. 4-22 A. The elders of Israel wanted a king to judge them like other nations. Vs. 4-5 B. Samuel was upset. Vs. 6 C. The desire for a king was not against Samuel, but God. Vs. 7-8 D. God told Samuel to strongly protest and tell them what a king would require of them. Vs. 9-18 E. Israel still wanted a king. Vs. 19-20 F. God told Samuel to make them a king. Vs. 21-22
