I. Samuel anoints Saul, and confirms him by the prediction of three signs. Vs. 1-13
A. Samuel anoints Saul as King with oil. Vs. 1 B. The three signs that will confirm the anointing. Vs. 2-6 1. Two men at the tomb of Rachel will tell you that the donkeys were found. Vs. 2 2. In the plain of Tabor, three men will give you two loaves of bread. Vs. 3-4 3. At the hill of God, you will meet a company of Prophets, the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them. Vs. 5-6 C. After the signs Saul will go to Gilgal to meet with Samuel. Vs. 7-8 II. The three signs were fulfilled, and God gave Saul another heart. Vs. 9 III. Saul prophesying with the prophets. Vs. 10-13 IV. Saul’s uncle wanted to know what happened. Vs. 14-16 V. Saul installed as king at Mizpeh. Vs. 17-25 A. Samuel called the people together at Mizpeh. Vs. 17 B. Samuel speaks to the people about having a king. Vs. 18-19 C. The people came to Samuel by tribes, and the tribe of Benjamin was chosen. Vs. 20 D. From the tribe of Benjamin, the family of Matri was chosen. Vs. 21 E. Saul was chosen, but they could not find him. Vs. 21 F. God revealed that Saul hid himself among the stuff. Vs. 22 G. Saul was head and shoulder taller than anyone else. Vs. 23 H. Samuel announced that God has chosen Saul as king. Vs. 24 1. The people shouted “God save the king.” I. Samuel had the instructions for the kingdom written in a book. Vs. 25 J. The children of Belial (wicked men) refused Saul as king. Vs. 26-27
