I. David spares Saul’s life again. Vs. 1-12
A. Saul takes 3,000 chosen men to find David in the wilderness of Ziph. Vs. 1-2 B. David sent out spies to find out what Saul was doing. Vs. 3-4 C. David and Abishai went to Saul’s camp at night where Saul was sleeping. Vs. 5-7 D. Abishai wanted to kill Saul. Vs. 8 E. David would not harm God’s anointed. Vs. 9-11 F. David wanted Saul’s spear and his cruse of water. Vs. 11-12 G. No one knew David and Abishai were there because God had caused a deep sleep to fall upon Saul and his company. Vs. 12 II. David accuses Abner, Saul’s captain, of not protecting Saul. Vs. 13-16 III. David pleads with Saul. Vs. 17-20 A. David proves that he spared Saul’s life again by having Saul’s spear and cruse of water. IV. Saul acknowledges his sin. Vs. 21-25
