1 Samuel 30


I. The Amalekites take Ziklag. Vs. 1-6

    A. The Amalekites invaded the south. Vs. 1

    B. The Amalekites burned Ziklag. Vs. 1

    C. The Amalekites took everyone captive. Vs. 2

    D. David and his men wept when they came to the city, saw the destruction and knew that their families were taken captive. Vs. 3-5

    E. David encouraged himself in the Lord. Vs. 6

II. David defeats the Amalekites. Vs. 7-17

    A. David asked the Lord if he should go after the enemy. Vs. 7-8

    B. God assures David that he will catch them and recover all. Vs. 8

    C. David; with six hundred men, went after the Amalekites. Vs. 9

    D. At the brook Besor, two hundred men were too weak to go on and stayed behind. Vs. 10

    E. They found an Egyptian who fought with the Amalekites, fell sick and was left behind three days ago. Vs. 11-13

    F. The Egyptian told David how the Amalekites invaded the Cherethites, the coast of Judah, Caleb and burned Ziklag with fire. Vs. 14

    G. The Egyptian led David and his men to where the Amalekites were camped. Vs. 15-16

    H. David found the Amalekites celebrating their victory with eating, drinking, and dancing. Vs. 16

    I. David fought with the Amalekites from twilight until evening of the next day. Vs. 17

III. David recovers all the spoils. Vs. 18-31

    A. David recovers all that the Amalekites had carried away. Vs. 18-19

    B. The wicked men of Belial who went with David did not want to give any of the spoil to the two hundred men that stayed behind because they were too weak. Vs. 20-22

    C. David said that they would share with all. Vs. 23-25

    D. David sent the spoil to the elders of Judah and his friends, saying, “Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the Lord.” Vs. 26-31
