A. Herod thought Jesus was John the Baptist raised from the dead. Matthew 14:1-2 B. John the Baptist condemned Herod for marring his brother’s wife. Matthew 14:3-5 C. Herod’s birthday party. Matthew 14:6 D. Request made for John the Baptist’s head. Matthew 14:7-9 E. John the Baptist was beheaded. Matthew 14:9-12 II. Jesus sails across the Sea of Galilee. Matthew 14:13 [Mark 6:30-34; Luke 9:10-11; John 6:1-4] A. Multitudes follow Jesus on foot. Matthew 14:13-14 III. Feeding of the 5,000 men plus women and children. Matthew 14:15-21 [Mark 6:35-44; Luke 9:12-17; John 6:5-14] A. They feed the 5,000 men plus women and children with 5 loaves and 2 fishes. Matthew 14:17 B. They all ate and were filled. Matthew 14:19-20 C. They took up twelve full baskets of fragment. Matthew 14:20-21 IV. Jesus and Peter walking on the sea. Matthew 14:22-33 [Mark 6:45-52; John 6:16-21] A. The disciples were in a ship by themselves in a storm. Matthew 14:22-24 B. Jesus walks on the sea to go to them. Matthew 14:25 C. The disciples were afraid when they saw Jesus. Matthew 14:26 D. Jesus told them not to be afraid. Matthew 14:27 E. Peter wanted to walk on the sea and Jesus said come. Matthew 14:28-29 F. Peter walked on the sea until he looked at the storm again. Matthew 14:29-30 G. Jesus rebuked Peter for his doubt. Matthew 14:31 H. While in the ship the wind ceased and they worshipped him. Matthew 14:32-33 V. When they reached the land of the Gennesaret, and as many as touched his garments were healed. Matthew 14:34-36 [Mark 6:53-56]
